mantisviii
Sorry if this topic has been discussed but i haven't been able to find a good resource. I'm pretty new to all this and was wondering if it was possible to identify a 4813 movement from an asian 2824 clone, without removing the back case? If not possible, how could you tell if the movement was a 2824 clone after the back case is removed? Would this method i found on another forum be the only way? Namely turning the crown and seeing how much the hand moves, hearing for ratchet sound, and smoothness of rotation of crown. Would really appreciate the help. Jkay
Blue screws and colored (painted) gears are great ways to visually tell it's an Asia 21j movement. And yes, as MD says the feel when you wind a 21j is buzzy like a tin toy. Swiss ETA and Chinese clone ETA movements should wind smooth like silk.
