Model Years ~2010-2011 Rolex Models

RWG,  I have tried searching not only this site, but the general internets (The Google) with no luck in finding an answer.  Maybe it's just me, anyways the question is why did Rolex eliminate the microchip looking thing or whatever it was?

 

Just a random thought, although the watches without them look much better.
