Tom Hawkes
Hi there. Quick question: I have a gen 000P and a noob 111N v3 and the CP looks pretty much the same. Should the gen have a completely flat topside? I noticed that it strongly depends on the lighting whether the cp on the gen 000 will appear flat or if it will appear with a "summit" in the middle like the cp on the 111N v3 Is it because of the standard movement in the gen logos? Do only the swan neck movements have the flat CP? Edited October 6, 2013 by Tom Hawkes

PeteM
I aint aware of any correlation between movement and variations in CPs on L and LM PAMs mate.... of course the types of hands influence the finsihed looked... Here is a pic that a guy posted on the other RWG that might help... Some gen compos See how the light reflection tricks the eye to give an impression of flat raised etc etc.... basically its the gen finishing method and fact that they are not completely flush that gives that impression... Tom Hawkes
Yes, I have looked at hundreds of gen pics by now and sometimes the CP looks superflat and sometimes it looks like it is a little raised in the middle. I can reproduce that with my 000 but I remembered that people are modding their rep CPs to be flat on the top to look gen.. I kinda got scared that I may have an unfinished brooklyn bridge movement inside.. Unfortunately the caseback is too tight and my ball made of duct tape didn't do the trick. Thought that maybe the CP is an indicator whether theres a stock ETA movement inside or a finished one, but it seems there is too much variance judging by the pics of gens. Mapman57
Wasnt the low grade batch limited to 150 x 318s and OP recalled all buyers for a free upgrade. If yours slipped through that net, it may still be an open offer. But yours is an 000 of course? I have seen other gen Pams with the same slightly pinnacled CP, so they out there. I have thought the same from time to time. As Pete says, model, age, hands and movement are all variables. Take it to an AD and get the back off, or buy a case tool. Its worth checking out.
