WatchDude Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 Just got her back a week or so ago (my Joshua 183h). Vaccum was kind enough to accept this watch to work on. He is a very busy man, but took the time to do this in his spare time. I had him do a re-lume and cannon pin fix. Here are a few 'quick and dirties': Un-touched photos of the lume. In da light. The cannon pin is oh so close, wish it could be a titch higher - but it IS a rep and I have to accept some imperfections. I'm betting I'm the only one that will EVER notice! Huge improvement over the old cannon pin! We have actually had some correspondence and he is likely going to re-do this and get er flush! Thank you Vaccum, you went above and beyond and you are an absolute asset to the rep community! I will certainly send more work your way and I highly recommend you to any and all looking for some State-side work. Best, WD
ck986 Posted December 5, 2006 Report Posted December 5, 2006 Can you see the change in texture through the number cut out. Does it look much different than stock. Can you tell it has been relumed? Thanks, ck

Can you tell it has been relumed? Thanks, ck I would say yes. If you look really close, you can see a slight shiny texture. To me that is a lot less obvious than a total lack of lume.
flavor flav Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 looks great! it's difficult to get the cannon pin flush unless you also replace the hands....otherwise you have to shave them down to exactly the right height.
baltic Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 Hmm, must get my 183 out of the box, haven't worn it for a while! Congrats on the watch.
mrnixon Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 What is the advantage of changing pins? Is it just estetics so that it looks more similar to the original, or are there any practical improvements also? As far as I have understood it is only Davidsen selling Pam with a longer canon pin?

Aesthetics is the main purpose of the cannon pinion/hour wheel upgrade.
mrnixon Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 (edited) Thanks for your answer. I have always thought it was the risk of the arms falling off the pin that was the reason for changing. Nice to learn something new. Edited January 15, 2007 by mrnixon
