juicemouse Posted January 21, 2014 Report Posted January 21, 2014 Hello from Brooklyn. Just getting into the world of reps because I was gifted a nice rose gold AP for my wedding gift but it's just too formal to wear on a day-to-day basis. Not to mention that it's been in for service (refinishing, complete teardown/cleaning) SINCE SEPTEMBER and I don't expect to get it back until February. AND I get to pay 1200.00 for it After a lot of research and even though the dial is incorrect, I bought a Prohunter Military Submariner from Trusty. It should have hash marks on every second but this rep only has them 1/4 way around. I hope the PVD doesn't look cheap. Eyeballing an IWC Portuguese Chrono next but I'm not sure which version is the most accurate to the gen. Anyways, thanks for having me!
Nightwatch Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 Hello and welcome to RWG. For that beautiful IWC the most expensive are the best but they have a very unreliable movement and break down a lot because of the gears for the seconds at six, so it will only last a very short time or You have to let it modify immediately after purchase (read about this). Exception are quartz but they don´t look like the Gen, although in my opinion also nice. But there are very good AP´s around, including the Diver, 15400 and the AP ROOs, maybe in SS as a daily option. See You around.

The thing that really turns me off about the APs are the thickness. Hope one of the factories can figure that one out but maybe they can't because of the physical dimensions of the movement.http://www.replica-watch.info/vb/showthread.php?t=160326
vlydog Posted January 29, 2014 Report Posted January 29, 2014 Thanks for saying hello. Welcome to the forum!
juicemouse Posted February 13, 2014 Author Report Posted February 13, 2014 Thanks vly. Glad to be here!
Nightwatch Posted February 14, 2014 Report Posted February 14, 2014 Hi, the Ap 15400 from BP maker is 11mm thick. For the screws on the Diver V5 they should be a bit more recessed but I really stopped going into this detail. Never had looked with a lupe at my gens before joining the forums:) The better You know the flaws the lesser You like the watch. My main priority now is: do I like it and is it a good watch - and these are... AP Diver V5 - should I really worry about the screw recessment or the tint above the date-glass? - nope The AP 15400 BP - this is better in Silver or white I think
