2846 stem relase button missing

Recieved a 2846 movt yesterday and was going to install it today but when I went to insert a stem (movt came without) I noticed the stem release tab was missing....i.e. the slot is there but the tab itself nowhere to be seen.  When I try inserting the stem it slides in but will not catch on anything.  I am guessing the tab and perhaps the rest of the keyless works is shot?  I have reset one keyless on a 2836 before and it was a pain in the behind so don't want to go through that again, and wonder if it would work anyways?

 

Any easy suggestions or do I need to ask for a return on this movt?

If you can't see the "button" through the small slot, it sounds like the whole keyless works are severely mis-aligned. If the stem is also not catching and locking into place this also suggests something has come loose in there.

If you don't fancy trying a re-set, I'd ask for a return.
