The replica that is available is however very good and would not be spotted as a fake by most watch enthusiasts. The problem is, the replica uses an A7750 movement which looks a certain way, mostly it looks exactly like a Valjoux 7750 movement or the TAG Heuer Calibre 16 chronograph movement. The Cal. 17 movement is actually an ETA 2894 modified by TAG Heuer. The biggest giveaway is the the rotor mounting, as this is completely different on the two movements. The case back of the watch you are looking for actually obscures this but to the trained eye the movements look nothing alike. Another problem with the replica is the sunken date wheel. This is caused by the transfer of the minute register from the 12 o-clock position to the 9 o-clock position and moving the running seconds from 9 to 3 to replicate the sundial positions of the Calibre 17 movement. The replica is not perfect, it's not even the best Carrera replica available (that honour probably goes to the Cal.16 racing), but it is a good replica and a good watch. puretime carries the watch on Rubber and Leather but the price is a little steep ($420) Hope this helps in your search for a "perfect" Grand Carrera Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
