scotty Posted February 22, 2014 Report Posted February 22, 2014 Well. After many months of faithful timekeeping my Trusty Top Gun has a problem. Crown no longer screws in. It's been getting progressively worse a while now. Opinions? Only solution is gen tube and crown? In which case can anyone point me in the right direction for parts or a modder in EU who can get them?? Thanks guys. Love this watch so want it back on my wrist ASAP!!
astonjenks Posted February 24, 2014 Report Posted February 24, 2014 Scotty In my experience it is not normally the tube thread but the crown. On one of my IWC BP i got fed up with changing the crown twice that I simply reduced the length of the stem to allow the crown to be 'pushed' in to normal winding position and rest against the case. This is after all how watches were before screw down crowns and my BP are never taken into the water. Regards AJ
scotty Posted February 24, 2014 Author Report Posted February 24, 2014 Thanks AJ. Its an option. But i'm a stubborn type... And like closeness to gen. No clue how to source a gen crown and tube and suspect they'll be silly prices!!!!
astonjenks Posted February 24, 2014 Report Posted February 24, 2014 I believe the member called Concepta is your guy? I understand that original Big Pilots can strip the crown thread also, not sure about TG models Regards AJ
