GMT Master II bezel advice

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I bought this GMT a few years ago and can't exactly tell more about the factory. It has the correct handstack since i wanted to get 'as close as gen' in that time.

The bezel is ceramic, but too shiney and grey instead of dark black, so i'd like to swap.

The size is 38 mm. Where should i look?

Is the Parnis bezel from this link any good?

Thanks in advance!

First you need to determine who made the watch. Some rep cases have and odd bezel arrangement and will not accept gen or gen spec bezels. The very latest GMT Ceramics may have a better bezel, but the ones I have seen are very inferior to the gen bezel. Problem is like I said, some cases will accept a gen, some won't.

AFA the Parnis insert, I doubt that it will work, they also sell "ceramic" inserts for GMT's as well, but none of those inserts are much if any better than the one you have. To get it to the next level you need a gen bezel/insert and at the least a gen crystal with AR'ed Cyclops

Here are a couple of photos of mine, this is a gen bezel/insert, gen dial, crystal. Look at the depth of the numbers on the bezel, also the width. Most of the rep bezel's numbers are too shallow and too narrow. Also the grey or white paint isn't remotely as good as the platinum process that Rolex uses.
