fading a sub dial insert

So I am looking for ideas on how to fade the dark black on a sub bezel insert.

Bleach.

I dip them in a bowl of bleach for about 10 seconds then remove and while under running water I gently rub the insert between my fingers while rinsing. Stop rinsing let dry and check result depending on how light I want the insert I may repeat the process several times.

 

First one I bleached I left in for about 45 seconds before rinsing and rubbing the insert, then another 45 seconds in the bleach and rubbed again. It turned out great just a little lighter that I wanted.

 

Go slow and experiment since the strength of the bleach can vary with age.
