Girln2watches
Bought this for my hubby for Christmas. I took it to a family jewelry store to size but the pin fell out after wearing it once. Is this normal? I am taking it back for him to fix it today but I am a DIY person. I like fixing and tinkering with things...if I got a good repair kit, would I be able to deal with these issues my self in the future? It's from Puretime, paid around $400 for 1:1 Best Quality...it's really nice but I am a rookie.
philwongnz
Are you referring to spring bars attached from the watch head to the bracelet? Or some other pins fell off from the bracelet? Some photos will help.
johnlogan
She's is referring to the screws in the bracelet. If they are NOT tightened they fall out. Yes this is normal so buy a small screwdriver to use when you receive the watch.
freddy333
Unfortunately, this is all too common with rep watches. It is 1 of the things cited when people suggest that Rolex watches are overpriced for 'no reason'. The problem is a lack of QC & poor/ill-fitting parts, which is never a good combination. The good news is that most watchmakers should have better quality pins that may stay better than the originals did. Even better, in most cases, you can chuck the rep bracelet altogether & replace it with a genuine Rolex or Swiss-made aftermarket bracelet (the watchmaker should be able to source this for you). Not only will the parts stay in place, but the overall improved level of fit & finish of the Swiss-made bracelet will be obvious. Either way, it was a nice gift & a watchmaker should be able to sort it out.
dbane883
Bracelet screws, genuine or otherwise, should be secured with loctite 221 that is readily available at most automotive parts stores.
