Pam212 Eta 7750 Movement

I am wondering if the ETA 7750 in the PAM212 is a modified movement?

The standard layout for the ETA 7750 is subdials at 6, 9 and 12, but the PAM212 has only 2 subdials at 3 and 9.

I am wondering if the ETA 7750 has to be modified to achieve this and is the Asian 7750 movement modified in the same way? I am thinking that it is possible that they have used inferior (speculation on my part) Asian 7750 parts to do the modification. Or do they come from ETA in the configuration of 3, 6 and 9 ?

haven't taken mine appart, but yes it is modified and since ETA doesn't offer this layout/modification you can almost bet on the fact that the modification parts are Asian. Remember also that the gen 212 is a real flyback so the 7750 has been even further modified - this is also why it has 30 jewels rather than the standard 25

Thanks, I always wonder whether it is worth getting modified ETA movements - will they be as reliable as modified ETA movements for genuine watches? I am skeptical as they would most likely use Asian parts, and I have no idea if these parts will hold up to long term use. Perhaps they will or perhaps they won't, but an expensive trial!

I guess we are going to see in the long run - I have 2 modified Swiss 7750 one in the 212 and one in the 253, so far I don't have any issues with them.

It just has the same transfer gears as all the 7750's that are made to function like a 7753 - this just has the 6 o'clock gear left out is all. Nothing wrong with them as the minute counter is not under any stress at all.
