i used to remove the keytless works cover and all the gears so i did not press the cannon pin misaligned and damage the minute wheel. i found a simple way to skip this step and not damage the gears. just get the cannon alligned on your press, reinsert the stem and press very gently while turning the crown. you can allign the minute wheel and get the gears to mesh perfectly before pressing on the cannon pin! once the cannon pin turns with the minute wheel it's meshed. then back the crown up a tiny bit to create enough slack to press the cannon pin on. really easy and saves alot of time without any risk whatsoever of damage to the minute wheel.
