flavor flav
Please nobody listen to this. The force from a hammer is concentrated on a small region of the crystal which can easily result in breakage while the force from a press with a properly sized die is distributed over a large surface area and therefore very unlikely to cause problems. Mods, is it time for a ban yet? In the meantime...... exactly.... this guy has already told us how he broke his crystals, then tells us how to install them with a condom and a hammer...... NRG
LOL! I've just realised, Flav like many of our friends on RWG are American...when this guy said 'rubber' he meant a 'pencil eraser' like the ones used in school LOL!
The Technician
I think he's got some good advice going here. I personally use a large rock and a housecat when installing crystals, but you gotta use what you have, right? Also, for Danny; Make sure you add a tiny bit of fine sand or lapping compund to your movement. It will smooth out any imperfections in your watch making it as accurate as possible. Give it at least a month to "break in", winding it fully and shaking it every day.
