196 Wind Up?

I just took ownership of a 196 old case asian 7750 and noticed that the crown only has 2 positions, in = date adjust and out = time adjust. So how do you wind this thing besides shaking it? Is the stem/crown screwed up or am I missing something with this model? The previous owner said it came to him this way.
