Guest HeWhoIsLikeGod Posted April 3, 2006 Report Posted April 3, 2006 First off I don't want to sound like a newbie or anything asking a question like below, but I am really not an expert on the watches below and have done a little bit of research on my own, but would really appriciate some outside opinions and thoughts. Okay so I have been a member of RWG I and TRC for almost a year and a half and half always been very picky. I mostly bought Rolex, which are fairly easy choices for accuracy. Anyway, I have decided to really branch out with my next purchases, get a little variety in my collection. I attached a few links below. I usually only order from Josh or EL, but King is the only one I could find with 2 of the watches I wanted. I am posting because I would like to get some opinions on the accuracy of these watches. Any comments are welcome. Thanks for any help you can provide. This first one is from Josh, I chose this one because it is the only Navitimer that has the 45 degree cut on the date window, is the blue accurate to the genuine though? http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v646/jos...VStkBlu%207750/? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v646/jos.../Image00013.jpg This patek is one of my favorites, very classy and I need a watch with strap that I can change. The movement is lemania and there is nothing stamped on the movt, I dont know how accurate that is. Other than that the dial is pretty accurate, the subs are just barely off. http://www.kingshowbox.com/kingwatch-large...PE/PP-044-0.jpg http://www.kingshowbox.com/kingwatch-large...PE/PP-044-1.jpg http://www.kingshowbox.com/kingwatch-large...PE/PP-044-8.jpg http://www.kingshowbox.com/kingwatch-large...PE/PP-044-5.jpg Lastly, I don't know why but I have become very attracted to this AP Royal Oak, this is where I really need some advice. What movt is in this watch, how accurate is the watch overall. I know there are a few AP experts here and I would really love there opinions. http://www.kingshowbox.com/kingwatch-large...GUET/AP-034.jpg http://www.kingshowbox.com/kingwatch-large...ET/AP-039-6.jpg http://www.kingshowbox.com/kingwatch-large...ET/AP-033-5.jpg http://www.kingshowbox.com/kingwatch-large...ET/AP-033-6.jpg http://www.kingshowbox.com/kingwatch-large...ET/AP-033-9.jpg
gpuck Posted April 3, 2006 Report Posted April 3, 2006 First thing I would do is get a new screen name...................................
gpuck Posted April 3, 2006 Report Posted April 3, 2006 Just off and on right now. My son is playing travel(PeeWeeAA) now and it keeps me busy. His team finished 2nd in the State last year...lost in triple OT! I get on the ice to help with practice. Its a blast skating with the kids at this age, they progress so fast its scarry!
Richard Tracy Posted April 3, 2006 Report Posted April 3, 2006 I can advise on the Patek.. Your choice looks great, however I find Patek is best in and known for Elegant Simplicity. Also if you allow for glued on markers there is much chance for error, not to mention that the patina on those markers may not look in person as well as they do in the photos.. i.e. plastic. My choice was ,.. I mounted her on a dark brown gator strap & she's a real beaut,.. perfect for black tie affairs..
jkerouac Posted April 3, 2006 Report Posted April 3, 2006 King's AP's with Swiss movements have received favorable reviews -- that is, they are reasonably accurate for the price. In particular, her AP 039 with the blue face seems to be a popular choice. Two key criteria are thickness -- you won't get a really thin rep until you spring for a higher price -- and the color of the bezel screws. You don't want screaming yellow gold, such as on 33, although I seem to recall some people having success at lightening yellow gold screws so they look a bit more like white gold.
Chronus Posted April 3, 2006 Report Posted April 3, 2006 thomasng is the expert on AP Royal Oaks... also one that I'm going to get sometime. I think the most accurate one around at the moment may be ELs according to some reviews I saw from admin a while back, but check for yourself.
Guest HeWhoIsLikeGod Posted April 3, 2006 Report Posted April 3, 2006 I think I may have changed my mind on the Patek, reall it is not that accurate and I think I like this AP from EL, but does anyone know if it comes in SS? Any other dealers carry SS model?
