scoobs1971 Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 Hi all. Are movements (ETA 2824-2) ordered at Ofrei or Cousins already oiled and serviced when delivered? When do they need servicing? I´m considering swapping my SMP´s ETA 2824 movement for a new movement. Seems cheaper (and more fun to do) than having the old one compelety serviced.
RWG Technical Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 Most of the movemets from Ofrei are used surplus ones...only sealed blister pack ones are direct from ETA and basically serviced. No idea on cousins, but typically most supply houses have two types of ETA's, surplus ones ($100) and ETA factory ones at about twice the price... RG

I've bought from both, and dropped the extra $$$ on the blister pack movement. If I remember correctly, it was actaully more than double the price from Ofrei. I think it was 90 pounds sterling, and the one from Ofrei was 85US. This was a few years back and I'm sure the price has changed. But do expect to pay more for sealed movement.
