Mark Eleven
This is not a rep, but since it has a very interesting sub-military dial and one of the most interesting that I've seen recently, I'm sharing it here. I have stopped buying watches (both rep and gen) for a while now but I just couldn't resist this '5' when I spotted 2 days ago. The thing that caught my attention was the 6-9-12 dial like Explorer 1, which I have never seen featured on a '5' before. It also looks like IWC Mark XVI (with its flieger hands),... and at only $54 delivered, it's great watch at great price!! It sure looks great on croc strap. Seller's pic. On croc strap. Mark Eleven
nice watch, do you buy it throw internet, which website? I bought it online thru the lelong.com.my , Malaysia's version of ebay. But you can also get Seiko 5 from ebay for about the same price - there are many dealers from Singapore dealing with Seiko autos watch. I have dealt with some of them, quite good service. crystalcranium
Let me just say my obligitory praise for Seiko. They are much maligned by true mechanical watch lovers for changing the rules in the 1970's and almost killing off the Swiss watch industry, but that being said, except for Rolex, no one makes an in house movement that rivals this one for reliability and no one does it for this price. I have an 11 year old version of this movement that has 17 jewels, not the 21 that are in the Seiko 5. It has never been serviced. I never adjusted it prior to 6 months ago when it gaining 20 sec/day started getting on my nerves. The watch is now chronometer accurate and is actually more accuruate on my wrist (+- 2 sec/day) than it is dial up on the work bench (+- 5 sec day) , a testimony to 5 position adjustability. If you love mechanical watches, the Seiko 7009 and 7S26 movements are tough to beat. If they only hacked and could be wound manually!!!!

I agree with everything you wrote and more. I own a Seiko World Time that I purchased in Vietnam in 1966. Works like a charm. Needless-to-say, it has a mechanical movement. I don't wear it often these days, but, once in a while I'll pull it out for old time sake and wear it. Amazing how many people comment on it. They recently came out with some very, very, very high end mechanical movement watches that cost somewhere around 3500USD. They make an excellent watch. For that fact, Timex makes an excellent watch, too. My beater watch is a 1998 all stainless (band, too) Ironman. It commemorated the 25 anniv. of the Ironman contest. And, you know something, I have not put a battery in it yet! I have no idea how this thing keeps going.
