Is this normal for an Arktos 7750?

Kollektor

Recommended Posts

I just bought an Arktos--not sure which version it is although the seller tells me it's a V3 (latest) from his factory. Different markings than Pure Time's so my guess is that it's definitely from another factory. It has a 12-click bezel (as opposed to the 60-click), and clearly the date font is slightly thin with wrong cyclops mag. Nonetheless, magnificent watch, and probably my favorite to wear on a regular basis. Very heavy, solid looking and feeling.

It's been acting kind of funky, so if anyone can assure me that the quirks are normal (or not) for the 7750 movement, I'd appreciate it.

1) Around 23: 30, the date begins to slowly turn until midnight. I thought that the mechanism was supposed to trigger a fast flip, so it crossed my mind that maybe I damaged my keyless works (yes... it's my first 7750 :whistling: ).

2) Other than that, sometimes the date is slightly off (1-2 millimeters too high or low) in the date window.

3) I keep the watch in my winder. Every night it just stops for some reason. In the morning, I manually wind it, and nothing happens. I gently stir it (like wine in a wine glass according to The Zigmeister's advice), and still nothing. Once I pull the crown out 2 clicks and then apply the crown guard to push it back in, the watch starts working again. Haven't had it stop on me yet while I'm actually wearing it.

I was planning to re lume the watch with The Zigmeister, but wanted to get some feedback first to see if there are mechanical issues that need to be investigated as well--or if this stuff is normal for this movement. Don't want to pay more for repairs than the actual value of the watch; would be better off buying a new one if I plan to re lume!

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and advice.

Tell me if I'm wrong, but I think your watch has a problem...

So it seems. Just don't know how spot-on--or reliable--these modifed movements are... Do you know if the date wheel is supposed to move slowly between 23:30 - 00:00, or is it supposed to tick into place all at once?
