I'm very clumpsy with wearing watches. Mineral glass will be scratched in a few days. So how strong is plexiglass? If I'm not mistaken even the Tag Heuer Monaco and the Moonwatch have plexiglass, so I hope that means it's stronger than mineral glass.. Jetsons Posted March 23, 2007 Report Share Posted March 23, 2007 Plexi crystals collect scratches if you're tough on a watch but they can also be easily polished and replaced if need be. I have a few watches with the plaxi and its really not an issue. On the positive, they give the watch a warm vintage appearance that cannot be replicated with sapphire or a flat top mineral crystal. The plexi will not shatter and scratches are easy to remove. Rolex used them in the diver watches for many years as did others. That's a great looking watch! For a minute, I thought it was a discontinued Heuer Carrera re-editioin that are highly sought after, which also have the plexi crystal.
