Daytona seconds at 6 movement question

Hi guys,

I've had a Daytona seconds-at-6 Asian movement for about 8 months now, has been running well until the past few days.

I will wind it and it will run for a few minutes, but then the 6 o'clock seconds hand always stops in the same place, at 5 seconds or so. I then have to give the watch a bump and it will begin to run again for a few minutes, but it stops again at the same place a few minutes later.

Is there anything I can do to fix this? I love this watch and I do not want to throw it out!

You can do a couple of things. I have to believe you have reviewed the seconds at 6 movement reviews and know the problems with them as delivered.

The fix could be having the movement serviced (as tourbi says, the cost is not cheap), and this may or MAY NOT fix the problem...the permanent fix may be to remove the running seconds at 6 gears, thereby unloading the movement and allowing it to run.

Either way, removing the extra gears, or servicing it, it can be fixed.

Hi Rob, just curious, I do not have this watch. But was just wondering, so would servicing this special kind of 7750 cost more than the standard servicing fee because of the work that is involved with the extra gears?

Not in this case. I consider it an Asian 7750. With all the extra friction from the 5 gears, and the fact they are not oiled as delivered, and that oiling them would simply stop the movement from running all together (because oil would increase the friction of each gear) there is nothing to do to the extra gears, except make sure they are clean...

I tell you guys, If you need to get your watch movement servied, paying a pro to service it for you is woth it. I tried and I ended up with a few parts after reassembly and I do not know were they FRIGGIN came from. :wounded1:
