hank7502 Posted May 4, 2007 Report Posted May 4, 2007 One dealer has the MBW GMT with the 2836 movement. One dealer has the GMT with a swiss 2893-2 movement. The MBW is $350.00 the other GMT is $450.00. I am confused. Which one would you buy?

vmena Posted May 4, 2007 Report Posted May 4, 2007 OMG... I don't see any reason why Joshua is chargin 450 USD for a GMT with the wrong red hand and wrong date font... I guess we are loosing perspective on pricing...
rag9fx Posted May 4, 2007 Report Posted May 4, 2007 That is a tough call! the major selling point for josh's for me is the adjustable gmt hand i think it has a nicer dial and crown ... what i like about the MBW's is that they have that really nice crystal... everything else on it isn't selling it for me ... but i would be sold on the crystal alone... i had a gun to my head and was forced to choose i would go for josh's.... no wait .... the MBW and then mod the hell out of it you've got to have that beveled crystal.... i guess it depends if you just want wear it out-of the-box or if you want to mod it .

I guess we are loosing perspective on pricing... it is the movement. hard to find a 2893 with a much lower price tag. If you are a movement freak and many here are, this is probably a tough call unless you want to invest in modding the MBW

The MBW is $350.00 the other GMT is $450.00. I am confused. Which one would you buy? I have your problem: I have modded a vintage GMT and here I want to realize a modern GMT I am thinking which watch to use like base. Perhaps the best is to use a standard TW ETA for $ 200 + aftermarket dial & gmt hand+ aftermarket bezel & bezel insert + gen band. The problem is the glass, it must have the laser crown nearly invisibile But the final price of this modding is hig, perhaps is preferible to realize a vintage. If it pleases to you to a GMT "out of the box" you buy a a Precioustime/Eddielee ecc.. and you replace bezel whit a after as Clarks Watch Parts , or othrt economic ! You have a honest watch so similar to Gen. Attention ! Bezel + bezel insert, non only insert (see pic) Ps: MBW? I have emailed the MBW GMT seller (TTK) but I have not never had answer. It does not appeal to me to a seller who makes itself to wish too much
AMK000 Posted May 4, 2007 Report Posted May 4, 2007 2893-2 is more aexpensive and more reliable. 2836-2 modified is cheapper and GMT might work or may not.
rag9fx Posted May 4, 2007 Report Posted May 4, 2007 Hank , have you seen this topic ? it is disscussion about Josh's GMT vs. the MBW ... hope this helps . http://www.rwg.cc/members/GMT-PC-vs-MBW-t25239.html
