I have three asian 7750 seconds @ 6 daytonas. One stopped working right away, one works well, sometimes loses time, and the oldest one I have runs flawlessly. The oldest one is from Sean (etaswiss) and I bought it right when it came out. The one that died within two weeks is from king and the other is from paul. Both from king and paul are two tone and the original is SS.

I noticed the two tone versions have a different case. Much thicker than the original. The overall finish on the SS verison is also much better. The clasp shuts without effort and is even and flush. the two tone models have a different thumbnail imprint on the clasp and don't shut as smooth. With these differences it is safe to assume that they are from different factories. Pauls and kings appear to be from the same. Another difference is the rotor noise. The rotor is much noisier on the two tone versions. The SS one is surprisingly quiet.

Does anyone know if different factories have different 7750 movements? Is there more than one factory making them? Is there any way to differentiate between the two or more versions and can we make sure we get the better one?

I am convinced that there is a reliable 7750 movement out there. It has been proven in the reliability of watches I own.

I am posting this on 3 forums for varied opinions.

Yes and yes. QC is always an issue. Yes there are multiple factories and runs of the 7750's - I don't know if that is true on the seconds at 6 version. And yes, the seconds at 6 is always very dicey. On those watches I always buy them second hand. :)
