Strap Culture Band

I've read several post on Strap Culture straps and based on the generally positive comments I am on the verge of purchasing this strap

However, I've read a couple of comments that people felt that the straps were a little thin (Not sure of the specific band). The one I'm looking at is listed at 5mm to 5.5mm and looks pretty thick. My questions are: Would you buy a thicker band? and if so, Does anyone know of a thicker alternative that looks similar to this band?

Persoanlly, I don't like the SC straps too much. The leather they use seems to be too artificially aged/distressed for me and not the true vintage leather.

There are many other alternatives but expect to pay a higher price.
