  1. I'm sorry, I screwed up, I meant the 187 (47mm submersible chrono). I don't appear to be able to edit the title.
  2. Are there different versions of the PAM 197 available or are the dealers carrying the same one?
  3. bump - updated with pictures and text
  4. I know the MKIIs are not replicas, but the new LRRP-UTC looks a lot like various rolex watches rolled into one (depending on which options you pick) and supersized (42mm). Does anyone have any opinions on these watches. To me, it looks like a good watch for the money. From the MKII web page Mk II LRRP-UTC: The Mk II LRRP, featuring optional automatic helium release valve ("HRV"), UTC/GMT function, and water resistant to 300 meters, exemplifies the spirit of the Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol ("LRRP"). Pronounced "LuRP" the term references the small patrols of soldiers that volunteered to undertake operations deep behind enemy lines to gather intelligence and conduct raids. The most notable LRRP units include the British Army's Long Range Desert Group that operated in North Africa during World War II and the Vietnam era teams that formed the foundation for the reactivated Ranger units. We started with the requirements manifest in the mission objectives of the LRRP broadening them to encompass the prerequisites of those that personify the same spirit of self-reliance, courage and independence. The design centers around two core design principles:
  5. I do like the looks of the new Deep Sea (size and domed crystal), and the ceramic GMT. However, I prefer the vintage plastic crystal sports watches over the sapphire crystal versions. I also prefer the lug holes. Why did they get rid of them? I will agree that I have always thought the bracelets are crap (mainly the clasp). I think Rolex has a great history, but I believe its becoming just that, HISTORY! I doubt many of todays designs will be viewed as classics in the future. But that is just my opinion.
  6. Hi Laz, Congratulation. I'm very Jealous. This is the Rolex that originally attracted my attention many years ago. Unfortunately (but not too unfortunately), the day I went to make my purchase, I decided on a regular Sub instead. I actually hope to add one of these to my collection some day. Enjoy, and make sure you never sell it (or if you do, sell it to me ) Best regards, B
  7. I agree totally. Its the Frankens that interest me most.
  8. I really like the P99, and agree that the grip is very comfortable. I didn't realize they made copies that were that accurate. I have it in a 9mm.
  9. Is there any sort of list that we need to sign up on?
  10. Thanks for the help. I'm not that familiar with the SA, but a friend of mine is interested and I'm trying to help him out. I had seen Ruby's and thought it looked good, but not being all that familiar with the SA I wasn't sure. Thanks again.
  11. I've seen several nicely modified Super Avengers with genuine parts. Just wondering which SA rep accepts genuine parts and who sells it. Thanks, B
  12. So either way (shortened or removed), once they are altered those functions can't be reinstituted at a later date? Thanks, B
  13. I know VJ 7750 and 7753s can be used without utilizing all of their funcitions, but does removing the chrono posts prevent you from being able to reinstall them in the future?
  14. How about the pusher holes? The Jimmy Fu case doesn't have pusher holes.
  15. I realize Rolex produced very few display backs, but I'm not trying to be accurate in this instance. Just looking for a good quality display back for a project that includes a MBW case.
  16. I recall seeing Display Backs for the modern Rolex subs on ebay about a year ago (nothing currently). Does anyone know if these are available for the vintage 5513 or Sea Dweller cases (and where to find them)? Thanks
  17. I understand that there are different grades of ETA 2892-A2 movements. However, the ones I see for sale never indicate which grade. How do you determine which grade you are purchasing? The one's on Ofrie sell for $200, while others sell on ebay for over $200(used). Are these generally higher grade movements, or are people just unaware that they can be purchase from Ofrie? Any thoughts?
  18. I'm not all that familiar with Omega Replicas. Can anyone tell me if there is a replica of the Seamaster rubber strap and clasp pictured below. Searches only yielded discussion of PO straps. Thanks.
  19. Is the Jimmy Fu a sandwich dial? If so, and you decide to get rid of them, let me know.
  20. I appreciate the assistance. I'm awaiting a few tools, and then I think I'm going to tackle this project. Thanks
