  1. Hi Laz, Good to here from you. I think you did all that could be done, and I appreciate your effort. I think this is nothing more than the post office using some loop hole to keep from paying up. No big deal, just annoying. I hope this post helps educate everyone. It is better to learn from one elses mistake rather than your own - its at least cheaper (LOL).
  2. They apparantly did some kind of search. Lazarini (the watch was sent to him) sent me an e-mail letting me know that they contacted him to make sure he didn't receive it. Other than that, I don't know how thoroughly they searched. Based on the payout, I'm guessing they didn't waste a whole lot of time looking.
  3. That was actually quite funny. Especially the guy who is going to laugh in your face if you get out of a porsche wearing a fake watch. However, I'm not too sure many of them know very much about replicas. They seem to think there extremely easy to spot.
  4. @ carlsbadrolex I guess I should just be happy that my lesson only cost me $350 I may have to stick with UPS in the future. At least with UPS I have some leverage. My employer does close to $40,000 a month in business.
  5. Did you have any luck doing this? Its not even the money, its more the principle at this point. I waited over 6 months, calling about ever month to see what was happening.
  6. Apparantly just registered mail. Based on what the person selling me the insurance said, I was insured for the $400. Apparantly they didn't know what they were talking about. This was the first time I had mailed anything internationally. I told them I wanted it insured for $400, I assumed they new what they were doing.
  7. In accordance with postal regulations in the International Mail Manual (IMM), under Special Services Registered Mail Section (333.2) Indemnity Limit, regardless of the declared value of a registered item the maximum amount of indemnity payable for loss, damage or rifling in 2007 is $43.73. Please accept our apology for any inconvenience this matter has caused you. You will receive payment under separate cover. You would think they would tell you in advance that you could only insure things up to $43.73 rather than take your money for $400 worth of insurance.
  8. Last year I sent a watch in trade from the US to another member in Europe, insured at $400. When the watch never arrived at its destination, I filled out all of the paperwork and waited. Today I received a letter from the US Postal Service claiming that there was an indemnity limit of $43.73 regardless of the declared amount. What is even more puzzling is why the check was made out for $52.38. This appears to be fraudulant. How can they sell you insurance for a certain amount, take your money, and then say that based on guidlines published in some manual they have somewhere, that they are not liable? Anyone else ever have this experience? UPDATE: I went to the local post office that sold me the insurance today. I showed them the paperwork and the letter I recieved along with the $52 check. Two of the postal workers and their supervisor reviewed the documents and said that I should send in a written appeal. It was their impression that the person responding to me was basing their decision on a package without insurance. They thought my appeal was a slam dunk. Although I was happy to hear their opinion, I won't be counting on anything unitl I see the money.
  9. I know that the Slytech rep is powered by the asian 7750. Is the genuine powered by a 7753, or is it a totally different movement. At least with this watch, I'd be avoiding the datewheel issue. The price of these 7753s appear to be going up quite a bit. I see where discovery110 is selling the one that I have (decorated blue screws) for $1200.
  10. I've got a 7753 that I wanted to install in a PAM rep and I'm trying to come up with a list of options. I know replacing the Asian with the Swiss is problematic if there is a date window since they aren't in the same place. How many 7753 PAMs don't have a date window or either have swiss version dial?
  11. Missed that last line in green "This is an aftermarket item." I just kept seeing Genuine and OEM, but the "Top Quality" wording seemed and odd description for something that is genuine. I guess it was just getting late last night when I posted the question, but for some reason that green writing was invisible for me. Thanks guys I agree, I think I'm going to buy some. Thanks
  12. Just wondering if these are the real thing? Genuine Screw and Tubes
  13. There is currently an ebay auction claiming to have genuine crowns. Are these legit? Panerai Crowns He also has auctions for titanium and pvd crowns
  14. How accurate are the Slytechs? Is the black or white face any more accurate than the other?
  15. Not sure I'm following you. Am I understanding you to say that I should buy another base and then substitute in an 002 dial? If so, where do I get the 002 dial? Actually, the dial is what I'm having trouble finding. What other watches have this dial?
  16. Yeah I read that. LOL. And I'm guessing your right about the price (possibly even more). I was just hoping someone knew something about them and that at least the quality was the same. I'm just having trouble finding an 002 and am looking for options.
  17. Is anyone familiar with this seller? I'm looking for a PAM 002. This seller has one, but I've never heard of them. See link Replica Corp PAM 002
  18. Looking for a non-DSN 002 or a E or F series 112? Does anyone know if one of the collectors might have one?
  19. Thanks for the input. I had a feeling that is what most people were doing. I was just wondering how risky it was, but if you don't have the box and receipt on you, I don't guess its that risky.
  20. Last month I was on a cruise in the Carribean and they really push watch purchases due to the duty free shopping. I will be returning to Grand Cayman this year and am considering purchasing a Panerai. However, my understanding is that you only get an $800 exemption from customs when returning to the US. Even if I can use both my $800 exemption and my wife's $800 exemption, I'm still stuck with customs fees of 10% on the remainder. Since most US state sales taxes are less than 10%, I don't see what the big deal is. Am I missing something?
  21. I'm not opposed to changing the CG/Crown, but it is my understanding that these are hard to find these days. And if I do find one, I might be better served to save it for the Jimmy Fu case I picked up recently. Of course, if I get real lucky and find two, I suppose I could upgrade this one.
  22. This may be blasphemous, but the strap is a rep breitling croc. Of all the straps I've ever worn this is one of the best. The only one that I've found to be comparable, and possibly slightly better is the authentic breightling that it copies. At approximatley $40 plus shipping from Ruby compared to close to $700 for the genuine, I consider it a steal. I only wish it came in a 20mm and I'd have one on my Rolex Sub. It is approximatley 8mm at its thickest and tapers to 3mm where it overlaps at the buckle (giving you approximately 8 mm everywhere). I appreciate the input from everyone. Sounds like I got pretty lucky on my first Panerai rep. Guess all I need to do is send it off to be worked on.
  23. A while back I purchased a Tudor Lady Sub for my wife. Unfortunately the Lady Sub comes with the thin folded style oyster bracelet. My wife wants to get the newer thicker style Rolex bracelet, but doesn't want to pay for the real thing. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good (looking for quality not accuracy) replacement band. It Doesn't have to have the rolex logo on the clasp and she doesn't care if the band has hollow or solid links. Just looking for a band where the links move smoothly and don't bind. The ebay seller "wholesaleoutlet990" has one that claims to be high quality and lists the heaviest weight I've came across (39.5 grams). Does anyone have any experience with oyster bands from this seller, or for that matter, any experience with this seller? Any other suggestions would also be appreciated. I'd really like to get one of these delivered in the next week, so my preference would be to buy from a seller in the US. Nevertheless, if there is a superior band out there that comes out of Asia, I can wait for it. Thanks
  24. Is it possible to have a trial membership that is free from say one to three months and then if the person doesn't become a paying member their access is cut off? This would give a person time to determine if they think the forum is of value. (I'm neither for or against forced subscription at this time, still weighing the positives and negatives of both. I find this discussion helpful).
