  1. I didn't realize that was possible. Thanks for the information. Do you just scrape the print lightly, or use some sort of solvent?
  2. Does anyone know where I can get a custom printed dial (assuming I provide the blank)?
  3. The best source for a new ETA 2893-2?
  4. Sorry, I didn't specify. I was referring to the genuine (Rolex caliber 3185).
  5. Does anyone know the GMT II hand sizes (holes where the hands fit on the posts)?
  6. Does anyone know the thickness of a genuine GMT II dial?
  7. Is Davidsen the only source for sanitized base sandwich dials?
  8. Thanks for the information. I've been considering picking up one of the 16200 cases that I see on ebay and using an ETA movement.
  9. So you really can't use the absence of a date to determine authenticity?
  10. I know the old Rolex casebacks have the quarter and year marked on them. Are the newer ones marked in the same manner, or did Rolex stop doing this? If so, when did they stop?
  11. If DSN's 010 dial was so accurate, why did he quit making it?
  12. When you refer to the problems with the ETA 2892-A2, are your referring to the genuine ETA? I thought it was used in quite a few high priced genuine watches. Could one expect to have to manually wind one of these high end watches every third day?
  13. Ok - the reason I asked. I didn't know much about watches (still don't know as much as most people on this board) when I bought my submariner 14 years ago. I assumed it was indestructible. It only came off my wrist about a dozen times in the first 12 years. I average a 15 to 20 minute hot shower every day, have soaked in a hot tub for hours at a time, and held it under the tap while washing it with a cue tip. Never any problems. Maybe I just got lucky.
  14. Am I understanding correctly that you shouldn't wear any watch in a hot shower? Even a genuine?
  15. That is interesting. I would have thought that one of our dealers would be carrying this if it had been repped. It is odd that they don't give any details, and the price seems really low if in fact the inner bezel does rotate. As low as the price is, it might be worth taking the gamble
  16. Thanks for the input. Good to have the opinion of someone who has seen it in person.
  17. With this being a 42mm, that may add to the cramped appearance. I am under the understanding that one of the crowns moves the ring; is that correct? I've never seen the watch in person.
  18. Is anyone familiar with this watch? What are your thoughts? (Positive and Negative)
  19. I was hoping to find the watch with the same dial (I'm not crazy about the little second hand). I also really like the older style font and the lack of "Panerai" on that particular dial. However, I suppose I could pick up a minifiddy, and then change to regular sandwich dial. If I can't find that watch, I guess that may be my only choice.
  20. I have been completely unsuccessful in trying to obtain this watch. It is no longer available from Andrew and I have been unable to find it anywhere else. Does anyone know where I might be able to find one?
  21. If you buy it, and then change your mind, how much can you sell it for? As b16a2 says, if you can recover your money, then you should buy it.
  22. Include me on the list of interested people.
  23. I've seen the regular SS ones going for about $1500, so that means you would be paying $1400 for the aftermarket PVD job if Chronus is right about it not being original.
  24. As I said in the earlier post, I reported to ebay, but I don't think they ever get back to you on these things. Luckily I have had good communication with the seller and I should be recieving a package tomorrow based on the tracking number.
  25. The case is now at $8,200 without the caseback.
