robb79 Posted April 26, 2006 Report Posted April 26, 2006 Hey everyone, Hope my first post isn't too newbie. I've been lurking around for a while. I've just ordered mt forst rep from Josh, an Explorer I. I'll post pics as soon as I receive it. Anyway on to my question; Like I said I've been lurking for a while. I've read mention of steps to take to smooth the edges of Oyster bracelets, First time treatment, and generally make it feel more authentic. But it's been just that, mention. Anybody have some definitave steps I should take? Maybe there's a tutorial I'm not seeing, but I've searched high and low. I just see so-and-so uses this kind of oil, or so-and-so uses this dremel. I'm sure there are some others out there who would benefit as well, so any tips on treatment of a brand new rep bracelet? And thanks alot, if I hadn't found this forum (and the old rwg) I'd be another scam story.

My expertise goes so far as to remove the bracelet, oil it with wd40, work it in,clean it and replace the bracelet. Over time they do become quite supple. i have heard people mention polishing them up with cape cod cloths. thom
KenMc Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 This is a time to leave it alone. It used to be suggested that you needed to oil a rep bracelet to get the squeakies out, but in fact this noise is exactly what the genuine Rolex' do when they are new. Go ahead oil if you wish, or leave it alone and wear it 24/7 for 1-2 weeks and it should quiet down nicely. Over at Timezone, the Rolex geeks love to proclaim ' it ain't real if it doesn't squeak' Relax, the easiest part of making a fake Rolex is the copying of the POS genuine Oyster bracelet - squeaks and all.
FasTTaP Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 True, wear it for a few weeks and it'll stop squeaking...
