From TIMEZONE:

Zenith And The "Pink Dollar". May 11, 2007 - 11:06 AM

Is it just me, or does the latest incarnation of the Zenith website seem to be pandering exclusively after the "pink dollar"?

Here we are confronted by a number of perfectly coiffured gentlemen who to appear to "prefer musicals", strutting around posturing with horizon gazing Clint Eastwood squints, hunched menacingly over speeding motor bikes in tight fitting leather, working out stripped to the waist in kung-fu attire and generally behaving like men "who can't catch".

Although this kind of marketing ploy is all very well with brands in the perfume business etc, is it really appropriate for the upper tiers of the watch making industry, or does it put more people off the brand than it actually attracts?

I'm sure the old-school Zenith purists are split over the recent marketing tangent and new outlandish models that a certain Mr. Nataf has introduced at the cutting edge of the brand.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not anti-gay, it just seems an almost hilarious marketing ploy to me. Personally, I'd rather just see their fine watches displayed as is, without all the glitz and glitter.

HT.

"Not that there's anything wrong with that!"

- Jerry, denying that he is gay, but not wanting to be seen as anti-gay, in "The Outing"

"Yeah, 'cuz I'm single, I'm thin and I'm neat."

"And you get along well with women."

"I guess that leaves me in the clear..."

- Jerry, Elaine and George, on why some people might thing Jerry is gay, in "The Outing"

"Look, you wanna have sex right now? Do want to have sex with me right now? Let's go! C'mon, let's go baby! C'mon!" - George, trying to convince a reporter that he's not gay, in "The Outing"
