kasigi Posted April 28, 2006 Report Posted April 28, 2006 Tomorrow I'm going to pick up a scouring pad and brush the crown guard on my 005. I assume the brushing should be done top to bottom so that any markings are vertical, but are all three sides brushed, ie front, back and the side edge as well? K.
Casey Posted April 29, 2006 Report Posted April 29, 2006 All three sides. For reference look on panerai's website
kanerich Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 Also consider using an ink eraser (that is, a rubber eraser for removing pen ink). It leaves a very nice, fine brushed finish on stainless steel. That's what I used for my 005 and I'm happy with the results.

That's worth a try - I've done it using a scourer but I'm not really happy with the result. It just looks like dull grey metal and the scouring pad disintegrated quite nicely! K.
Cheea Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 Feek, Can you please post pics of the finished guard. Also want scourer did you use. Will a green pad work or do I need a steel wool to get the job done. Thanks. Michael That's worth a try - I've done it using a scourer but I'm not really happy with the result. Rolexman Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 (edited) Use a scratch pen Watch the Quicktime videos and pics in the link!! Edited May 1, 2006 by Rolexman
sssurfer Posted May 2, 2006 Report Posted May 2, 2006 Yes, the scratch pen really provides excellent results. Too bad the Watch Boys are not offering it anymore. You can still find it here: Italian provider for scratch pen Just do wear rubber gloves when you use it, since it is made of glass fibers and it leaves LOTS of micro-splinters on your work table and your fingers...
baltic Posted May 2, 2006 Report Posted May 2, 2006 Well I used a pan scourer, the one with a coarse green side and yellow 'softer' side the results are below:
