alant
Hi dear all, I'm reading through the forum and understand some people are concern about the seconds subdial at 6 o'clock position for the Daytona series. What actually is the problem? Are the newer Daytonas also facing such issues or resolved already? Or can this seconds subdial be turned off so that just the hour and minute hands are moving? Thanks. ubiquitous
The 60@6:00 is a continuously running subdial- i.e. it is not a subsidiary activated by the stopwatch (stopwatch secs are the center seconds). The only way to disable is to have the gearing for this subsidiary removed, which will increase reliability in the mod 7750 movement.
alant
Thanks for the reply ubiquitous. I thought the Daytona already has a separate second hand together with the hour and minute hands. So this subdial at 6 o'clock is also an additional seconds hand?
kasigi
The second hand in the centre is for the stopwatch, it's not continuously running.
ubiquitous
Center seconds are stopwatch, which is stationary until the stopwatch is activated (pusher at 2:00). The 6263 vintage Daytonas with V72 handwind movement has running/continuous secs at 9:00: The 16520 neo-vintage Daytonas with El Primero 400 movement has running secs at 9:00: The 116520 current Daytona with in house Rolex 4130 has running secs at 6:00:
alant
Hi ubiquitous thanks for the pictures and explanations! So in this case is it better for me to get those Daytona with seconds subdial at 9 o'clock position since the one at 6 o'clock tends to be a bit tricky? ubiquitous
Unfortunately, the Daytona is a difficult watch to rep. I myself went with building my own Daytonas. The 6265 and 16520's I posted above are frankensteins using genuine parts. It's a costly endeavor (I currently have $4k into each of my 16520's), but the result is basically the same as a genuine Daytona; movement is the same, genuine dials, crystals, crowns, etc. etc. It was the only way to obtain an accurate Daytona without buying gen

Dear friend I am studyng from time and time and time the Daytona question. Very dufficult ! I think that the only solution is a MBW set and a gen zenith movement. This movement in good conditions costs in Europe
