From your description, I would say based on my experience, that you could have a problem with the autowinder reduction wheel part number 1481.

I have seen these get all gummed up, and cause manual winding and autowinding problems. The fix requires cleaning of the gear hole and the pivot on the upper bridge.

Was hoping you might reply. Thank you.

Have done everything you said even replaced the reduction wheel (1481) and changed the autowinding bridge (had spares). Took out autowinding transfer wheel (1482) and cleaned,found a very fine slither of steel on this wheel and thought i'd found the culprit but still having the same trouble. After a few swings of the rotor it won't return (wind) under it's own weight but the slightest movment of the crown, then the rotor then frees again dropping under it's own weight. Do you think it could be rachet wheel (1488) although i did clean this in hairspring degreaser, (ok??)
