pwygant
Greetings, I am starting to research my next purchase and this time I might get one of the Rolexes. I really like the look of the vintage Rolex Daytonas, more importantly the unusal red faced pieces. After reading the write ups to my understanding the newer Daytonas with the seconds running at 6 are pretty bad with added parts that can't be replaced? Is that the extent of this? Are the vintage versions the way to go and if someone has some, new or old white white or red face, please post some pics. //Cheers
the collector
If you are looking for a Vintage Daytona, the best one is the DW. Do a search on DW 6263 here and you will find some very interesting reading and pictures. Edited May 12, 2006 by the collector

the collector
No, as far as i know he does not modify watches. Have a look around here, every now and then a DW 6263 pops up for sale.
ubiquitous
I love my DW's.... But sometimes I hate them, too. A pure love/hate relationship for me...

leitztozeiss
Extraextra's are nice too (see below). Btw, my DW v72 is on its way from Edge!! Hopefully, it'll arrive next week. Still haven't located a movement or a decorated bridge.
ehtolcad
that's so funny that you want a red vintage daytona - any idea how rare/expensive those watches are?
pwygant
that's so funny that you want a red vintage daytona - any idea how rare/expensive those watches are? Tell you the truth... I am just so bitten by this bug these days that I buy watches that I like and look good. Next on my list is the Bvlgari Titanium from Andrew, and after that I just told myself I need a Rolex and that's when I started the research. After reading for a day or two about the problems with Daytonas I think a vintage model that looks cool is great and probably a little better. Also, I have the old Casio look alike model already so buying the Black Submariner [which I have been told needs to be in the collection at some point] just isn't on top of the list. After that, I guess I just need the Omega Seamaster and the collection grows again...
