cskent69
Sorry if this has been covered - but my searches did not yield anything. I seem to remember that the Breitling rubber strap has been repped. Certainly the ones on E_BAY for <$80 seem to be aftermarket. Can anyone say if these are fake and if any of our dealers carry them? Thanks a bunch

coolfire
i check the agent and it cheap around 70 us dollar Any links? Also, how does one tell the rep from the gen one?
anton
one way to tell is to look at the ends of the straps (where you insert the springbar). a gen would not overlook this area as this is where a solid rubber piece would be cut into two; so this area would notmally be "finished". lanikai
http://myworld.ebay.com/tot_watchez/ This is the seller on Ebay that i got a black (claimed to be genuine) . rubber strap from 74.00 usd shipped I won a Blue rubber strap from the other seller on the bay for 46 or 49 usd and he stuck on a 18.00 usd postage to make up the difference in my winning bid... anyway , i'm happy with the strap .. email tot .. good luck
anton
I saw their past auctions and to me, the rubber strap he had looked of questionable origin to me. I have gone through gen rubber straps, and I know that they have markings indicating strap width and length end-to-end. The Breitling "OEM"'s the seller had didn't have any markings on them. cskent69
Sounds like none of our dealers are carrying this then. I guess I will continue to watch the ebay ones.
coolfire
How about the clasp? Is a brushed or polished finish another way to tell? @anton, i don't really understand the part where you mentioned that for a gen strap, the rubber is "cut" into 2 and be finished... I found it hard to take a Breightling genuine strap to be 65.00 usd without shipping.. but for what it's worth,.. none of the collectors offer the "genuine LOOKING" rubber straps so i went with this one... I cannot make too many trips to the certified dealer, my buddy's wife works there and i don't want Ben Bridge to start asking too many questions of her.. Japanese management frowns on a lot of things that Westerners take for granted. let me take some pics of the straps,.. sorry for all the dust .. Ilive next to diamond head by Waikiki and the crater creates a lot of dust .. drives me nuts

anton
SS Buckles come either brushed or polished. Would look kinda funy if you had a polished watch but brushed buckle, or vice versa.
