Datewheel for 2824-2 movement

Hi all

I am enjoying my Franken just with all genparts but the movement and did notice that the datewheel which was overlayed on the 2824-2 movement has a small chip on the white border of the "8" date. Barely noticable and only annoying one day a month unless something under that wheel is rubbing and it continues.

Anyoner know where I can get an aftermarket datwheel with the closed 6 and 9's? I got one from a TRC member but would like to but a spare for when I decide to change and correct and "rubbing" that might be occuring.

I am considering just living with it but on Nov 8th it will aggravate me againna djust might decide to go through replacing it.

On most of my genuine vintage Rolexes, the datewheels have imperfections due to age. As a general rule of thumb for me, I only replace those DWs that no longer are supported in silver finish.

Enjoy the imperfections, it is these unique faults that makes us human.

Good call The chip looks worse than before. Half the 7 is missing not. I think that ara of the datewheel was not fluch on the 2824-2 datewheel. Life and learn I guess. I will buy a new datewheel from cubik if he has the correct font and replace it when the mood moves me.

No big deal. the movement keeps perfect time with a 30+ hour power reserve, it looks as gen as gen can get. I gladly remove the watch for inspection by gaulkers every chance they ask (as long as they do not open the back the case the subterfuge is maintained.)

In my honest opinion, it's the only way to go.

If I could get sub parts on the cheap I would do it again. BUT I wll be waiting for next spring when the next generation subs hit the scene that are as close to 1:1 as ever.
