d.b Posted October 20, 2007 Report Posted October 20, 2007 I've heard some quartz movements (e.g. ISA 8162/220) has jewels, like in mechanical movements.. what i don't understand, does a quartz movement can benefit from jewels in some ways? or is it just a gimik ? daytona il
jkarpas Posted October 20, 2007 Report Posted October 20, 2007 jewels are used to compensate friction on posts, gears and other moving parts of the watch. I am not so aware of how a quatz mvt works in detail but i am sure that reducing the friction in its moving parts contributes to the good timekeeping and reliability
