pitimany Posted June 2, 2006 Report Share Posted June 2, 2006 (edited) Took the two watches out, try 1 doesn't move and 2 went crazy. 1) It was having stopped and goes problems before, I got it used. 2) This is a new one, never use it before. wind up two or three turns and the hands go so fast around (cool but broken) Does anybody fix these things, or I need new movements? Not sure who you can try for repairs/overhauls these days- Ziggy's not touching them anymore, spare parts are nearly impossible to source- Even if you get a movement from DW to replace the broken with, there's no guarantee as to what condition that one will be in. My recommendation- Us DW owners need to put our heads together and come up with some sort of collective solution to these movements- A replacement movement that won't break the bank, easy to source with replacement parts available. Since necessary parts would not be available, this is not recommended. 2) Buy replacement movements. DW sells these (I believe they are about $100 each). As Ubi mentioned, there's no guarantee that the new movements won't develop some problems as well. 3) Buy VJ23's to replace the DW movements. Halley has hinted that this will work, but I don't think that anyone has actually completed this upgrade. You will need a new hand set as well. If this works, it's a very good solution. 4) Sell the two watches for parts, and use the funds towards a VJ72 based Daytona. Most expensive, but will leave you with the best rep.
