Screwing in crown of SMP Chronometer

Corgi

Recommended Posts

Hello

I have owned my SMP chrono for a few months now, even used it to time something last week and it works perfectly... keeps great time, and resets hastily with precise accuracy.

However, after I am done setting the time and go to screw the crown back in, the twisting motion of the crown makes little crackling sounds. It's really very quiet, like a little "snip snip snip" gentle bumping/scraping of metal. I am worried I may be inadvertently damaging the watch as I screw in the crown!

Any thoughts?

Corgi.

I don't own one of these but....

I wonder if the thread is starting to break up, might be worth cleaning out the threads with WD40 or another very light penetrating oil, careful not to get it in the case and on the movement though.

Good luck.
