date change issues

I'm having some date change issues on 2 MBWs, after one month I bought them.

The date changes only half way at midnight, the number is not centered vertically, and I have to do it manually to make it right.

Does it just need a service, is it just dry, or it's something different?

You mught want to clarify your post by stating which MBWs you have. Then maybe we can identify the problem from there.

They use DW overlays, which may make the torque needed to "switch" the date over at midnight too weak for that function to perform properly.

Or, of course it could be that there is not enough space in between the DW and dial, so the DW is scraping along the dial and affecting the "date jump" process.
