eta 2824 escape wheel

Ok I don't know what started this, but i think it was the little jewel circled in red in the pic below. It was crooked, so i pulled everything off and set it back.

Now the gear circled in blue (escape wheel) isnt being struck by the pallet fork correctly. The balance does it's thing, and the fork moves, but it was spinning the wheel one way for a while and then the other way. What am I missing here? I guess you're not supposed to just drop the escape wheel in?

Oh and for later, if I want to change the canon pinion do I need a jewel press?

Oh I just found what stopped the movement..... a little piece of clear plastic !!!???WTF????
