Sanitized Base Dials?

I didn't realize that was possible. Thanks for the information. Do you just scrape the print lightly, or use some sort of solvent?

Best to ask The Zigmeister...I understand he removed a member's l-swiss-l very, very easily. My guess is it's along the lines of a light rub w/ a soft cloth.

Didn't know The Zigmeister came up with a way. In several threads about this issue in the past, no one had been able to do it without also removing the black finish underneath. It would be awesome if this could be done and the "L-swiss-L" put back in the right place.

Agree. Even without putting anything back.

BTW, The Zigmeister's post was here.

I think he's subsequently found a way to do it w/o leaving much of a trace--at least it looks like he did on Kruzer's 187. I've used scrap pieces of adhesive vinyl to lift the printing off of a 111 dial trying to fix the a's but that left a residue. I did a crappy job wiping off the residue & I noticed printing I wanted to stay came off just wiping it off w/ the cloth.

One option is

112 Std Rep Sandwich dial

Acetone

Blackboard paint - or good matt black spray paint

Totally remove all paint from the top dial and re-spray.

A Ziggy or Vac lume to "re-fill" the indices will create a nice flat or recessed "Pre-V style" dial

Or a DSN 201/202 dial and do the same ...as this fits a std rep case

Or a Jimmyz Fu base dial ....if you can get one!!

Best

Great advice, archibald, thanks!

I am going to try it as soon as I get a special dial I am waiting for.

I happen to have a couple. Maybe I'll put them on sale if I just get a figure of how much they are worth...

Is the Jimmy Fu a sandwich dial? If so, and you decide to get rid of them, let me know.

No, it is neither sandwich nor sausage. Rather like vintage.
