chris5264 Posted June 22, 2006 Report Posted June 22, 2006 since I've had some back problems the last few days I thought leaning over a watch table would be the fix (lol). Anyway, I had a gen 6498 sitting around for a while and thought I would put it in my base after I attempted to age the hands and dial via some dark stain. My only first thought was, so what if the balance wheel is in another place and the keyless works seem "upside down" compared to the 6497. However, it turned out a few other things were waiting. The feet on the dial didn't work now so they had to be removed and the dial is now held down with glue "dial dots". But even after that, the case has grooves in it so you can put in the clamps to hold the movement down. Now, these were also totally out of wack. My solution was to put in larger screws and leave them mostly unscrewed, so the case back would hold it in via pressure. This worked to a degree but I think it twisted the dial a bit of center. This seems better than trying to drill new holes in the case. Oh well, here are a few pics. Also, I got the longer CP and HW from Davidsen's movement, it fit perfectly on the gen swiss 6498 and 6497 (I also had it on the 6497 previously).
