UncleJay
Well, I hope to have a Franken 5508 and 5500 Explorer soon and I'm already thinking about another project. I have a great 5512 dial that I bought as a spare for my Gen 5512. I was thinking of making a complete 5512 using an ETA movement. Does anyone know what Caliber ETA I would need? I know I would need ETA hands, but what case should I use, NDT? Please chime in guys.
tmg
You want something like a 2846 ETA with a slow beat rate. MBK cases are made for an ETA movement while the NDT or Vietnamese made cases are made for gen movements (not to mention you can buy several MBK watches for one NDT case). You have to be careful with the ETA in a Vietnamese case since the stem does not align in the same place as a Rolex 15xx mvmt, so there is some stress on the stem. Good luck on the project and keep us updated!
UncleJay
Thanks 2MG, who would you recommend for the MBW watch?
Jetsons
UJ, the MBK case would be more appropriate for the 5513. As for sources, Eurotimez can get them for you and add a little QC to the equation. Perhaps he can source one for you with the slow beat ETA in place as some do arrive this way. Sounds like an interesting project(s).
