TomBombadil Posted June 28, 2006 Report Posted June 28, 2006 I came across this topic on MWR on fake Omegas. I have never seen these around so I'm wondering if these are actually made or if it is something different. Some pictures: Maybe they mean its a franken, but I am not sure... Link to MWR Discussion Any ideas?
ubiquitous Posted June 28, 2006 Report Posted June 28, 2006 Looks to be a frankenstein using a gen movement from another Omega; possibly a fake or refinished dial and caseback engravings done after the fact. These most likely come up on eBay, sold and advertised as genuine...
ubiquitous Posted June 28, 2006 Report Posted June 28, 2006 Does this look familiar? 1969 OMEGA Man's Watch.
Craytonic Posted June 28, 2006 Report Posted June 28, 2006 hard to believe it is genuine... the seconds hand is WAY off-center
ubiquitous Posted June 28, 2006 Report Posted June 28, 2006 And, if you want to make your own... Dial only...
cwai02 Posted June 28, 2006 Report Posted June 28, 2006 it looks like a genuine cal.601 movement though.
ubiquitous Posted June 28, 2006 Report Posted June 28, 2006 As quoted from above ^^ Looks to be a frankenstein using a gen movement from another Omega; possibly a fake or refinished dial and caseback engravings done after the fact.
Craytonic Posted June 28, 2006 Report Posted June 28, 2006 That would drive me _crazy_ every time I looked at it.
fkhill33 Posted June 28, 2006 Report Posted June 28, 2006 I don't think the hands (hour, mins or secs) are even attached to the pinion! I think they are just resting on the dial hence them not being straight. But looks funny to me regardless =) cheers

I guess you just need to know what to look out for.
