Greystash Posted May 27, 2008 Report Posted May 27, 2008 (edited) Hey Guys, Does anyone know what were the largest diameter (war time) Pilots Watches ever produced? Any brand? I was talking to a friend today who is a collector of war time memorabilia, (this is the kind of guy that actually owns and is restoring an artillery cannon - and I don't mean a small one ), anyway he was talking to me about very large Pilot watches around 60mm in diameter, that were strapped over the Jacket Sleeve. I thought that was perhaps a little too big but I don't know, were any Pilot Watches made to this size? Edited May 27, 2008 by Greystash
Guest avitt Posted May 27, 2008 Report Posted May 27, 2008 (edited) I don't know about the largest, but I think that the average for the Luftwaffe and Russian pilots' watches was about 55mm. They were basically pocket watches, with lugs welded on. You can find them on eBay often. Edited May 27, 2008 by avitt
chrgod Posted May 27, 2008 Report Posted May 27, 2008 I don't know about the largest, but I think that the average for the Luftwaffe and Russian pilots' watches was about 55mm. They were basically pocket watches, with lugs welded on. You can find them on eBay often. These converted pocket watches are often interesting pieces.. I have considered buying one for a long time, but I always end up with another replica instead. There was a discussion of these "Pilot watches in THIS thread.
