phaedo
Hi all, I have had musings for a while about making a custom pam - putting a crazy hours movement in a case, and making a sandwich dial with full numbers on it so you actually do know what the time is. At present I don't have the time, nor skill to carry out such a task, but has anyone else considered making a custom like this? I like the idea of the crazy hours, but it just seems like it would be too feminine of a watch for me. Would a movement fit in the first place, and are the movements available anywhere seperately, or would I have to get the whole watch to disect? archibald
I like the idea of the crazy hours, but it just seems like it would be too feminine of a watch for me. In order to make a watch manly enough for a guy like you, you'd have to find custom hands to fit the Crazy Hours movement pinions, make a movement ring, and since 50% of the crazy hours concept is the "misplaced" numerals you'd have to CNC a new top half of the sandwhich dial. Even worse, you'd have to actually buy the Muller, since dealers probably won't sell just the movement from a $108 watch. I've been wondering for a while if there is a benefit to having insufficient testosterone, and I guess here it is: I can just order a Long Island Crazy hours, which, if plated either in yellow or white gold (rhodium) is about the most accurate reps, regardelss of cost, ever made. Sorry about razzing you, pardner, and I know FM's aren't everyone's cup of tea, but it was just pretty funny the way you phrased that sentence. Thanks for the answer, didn't think it was going to be an easy process. I guess it isn't that I necessarily need my watches to have a 5 o'clock shadow, but the crazy hours just doesn't seem like a utilitarian watch - I have a couple more dress watches that just get no wrist time for that simple fact, maybe calling it a girlie watch wasn't quite the right way to put it
