guanaco Posted July 22, 2008 Report Posted July 22, 2008 Ok I got this crown from eBay, here's the pic and description: Rolex 18K Gold Submariner Twin Lock Watch Crown * 100% Genuine Rolex 18K Crown * Submariner Crown- 7.10mm OD x 4.39mm ID * Rolex Twin Lock #700 * Thread- 90 * Crown fits Tube- 4.39 inside crown * Height- 4.39mm x 3.40mm x 3.68mm So is this thing a twinlock or a triplock??? I see 3 dots underneath the crown.... I'm confused. Also what TUBE do I need to use for this one to fit [gen or aftermarket]? Will I need a new stem as well? I plan on installing it on a TW Best TT Sub, here are the pics: It has an ETA 2892 if it's of any help. Thanks for your help guys! **BTW does that crown seem gen to you? I'm having suspicions it might be fake, but it feels 'heavy' like gold...
HauteHippie Posted July 22, 2008 Report Posted July 22, 2008 Ooh, a 2892 - nice. There is a reference chart for crown and tube compatibility that was posted some time ago that should pop up in a forum search. It also specifies which models used which crowns. Good luck.

Cheers Rolex.com about Sub Crown Yep, they use trip lock , what I'm wondering is if the one I got is a fake, I already have it, and it was from a very reputable seller on eBay that a few members had recommended because he's legit. I just measured the crown and it's exactly 3mm thick, is that the correct thickness?
rolex001 Posted July 22, 2008 Report Posted July 22, 2008 This seller I bet is the one selling all sorts of crowns - he doesn't know what he#s doing, often mixing up 603 with 602 crowns... This one is neither Trip nor Twinlock - it is a famous Chinalock - a cheap knock off, and it won't fit any gen or generic tube, just the Chinese fake tubes. Do yourself a favor and hit it with a hammer - or the seller. i just read, seller claims it's a 700 Twinlock. I bet he never saw one in person. These are extremely expensive and rare, espcially with tube. And they look completely different.

This crown is apparently solid gold, I gave it a deep scratch and no base metal was exposed... hmmm... I'm gonna polish the crap out of it with a cape cod and see if the damn thing really is gold.
