szvwj Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 (edited) I'm trying to determine exactly (or close to it) the color of the Gen BCE date font. I'm guessing that it's something like PMS 433. Does that look right or is it too light? The full Pantone color chart can be found here: http://www.peaceproducts.com/Pantone%20Color%20Chart.htm Edited July 23, 2008 by szvwj
b16a2 Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 It is much darker than that, I always assumed it was a shade of black
takashi Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 Ok... I don't have a gamma and colour calibrated monitor but I am guessing PMS426 looks pretty good.
szvwj Posted July 24, 2008 Author Report Posted July 24, 2008 Thanks for the input. I guess the best thing to do would be to borrow a Gen, take it to a place that has a PMS color chart (or visa versa) and figure out the color that way. I know it's asking a lot, but if anyone owns a gen and has access to a Pantone chart, I'd REALLY appreciate it if you could check it out and let me know.
anton Posted July 24, 2008 Report Posted July 24, 2008 I'm pretty confident it's darker than the PMS 426. I know it's not the BCE, but they both use the same movement.
szvwj Posted July 24, 2008 Author Report Posted July 24, 2008 Anton, that's a fantastic photo (nice macro skills), thanks! Wow, that's really close to black. Do you think the text color is closer to PMS 433 (my previous image might not have shown PMS 433 accurately)? It's really hard to show the color, but PMS 433 = Cyan 34%, Magenta 0%, Yellow 0%, Black 94%, so it's really close to black.
anton Posted July 24, 2008 Report Posted July 24, 2008 Try 433 2X. That one shot was the end result of pointing a DSLR into a 10X loupe just to get a good macro shot! (worked with an 85mm lens).
szvwj Posted July 24, 2008 Author Report Posted July 24, 2008 Thanks a lot Anton, I appreciate the effort!
