Since there's such a wide rubber gasket, it seems that the caseback is never completely tight. It feels like the screws can never be completely torqued down but I don't want to pinch the gasket too much either. Any insight as to how tight the screws should be?

No answer here, but on my mbw if i tighten them too tight the rotor rubs. So I back them off just enough that it doesn't, has been fine for cleaning (except almost losing a pusher down the drain).

I just took a look at my movement and when I put the caseback back it was like screwing a regular screw in.

No problems here at all. They are tight now (I did screw them till I got resistance - no matter how weird this sentence might sound :) :)) - it actually made bezel screws sink a bit below bezel surface - just as they should be.

Check it again after a couple of hours, you'll be able to turn the screws maybe another 1/8th turn. This almost seems to go on forever so I just wonder when to stop.
