Looking for a "robust" rep

mrks

Recommended Posts

Hi folks,

Being a new "repper" I'm looking for some advice/suggestions for a rep that meets the following criteria

a) Robustness - The rep should survive a (steam) bath, swimming (no diving), etc.

I have read that this is not advisable but hopefully some (QCd ?) reps will allow for such daily operations.

B) Unobtrusive design - Simply a chronometer (preferably) in SS

No chronograph, no blinks, no gold-plated thingies.

c) Close to the gen - Not readily identifiable as a clone/rep

This IMHO includes a good finish.

What I came across so far (in terms of design I like)

VC Overseas

AP RO

PP Aquanaut / Nautilus

Any comments on these or amendments to the list?

Do these ones meet the criteria?

TIA

mrks

I know this is a bit on a tangent but I've taken almost every one of my gen watches in a hot tub and have never had a problem. I've heard of people having condensation build up, but I don't see how that could happen when your watch is air tight???

Just spend 15 bucks and get the watch tested for water resistance. If the watch is tested to 50 or 100 m it will be fine for a steam bath. We are not talking about immersing it in live steam from a boiler...

I would go with the Breitling SuperOcean Steelfish, as already suggested. Robust, very close to the gen and will not arouse suspicions anywhere. Put it on a gen rubber strap and absolutely no-one will ever question it. Any Rolex, even a gen, is a fake unless proved otherwise - that's just the way people are.

dont speak generally my friend, only jealous, ignorant or stupid people are that way and i know a good way how to deal

btw, i can recommend tag link, it has no moving parts outside and when thinking about robustness, tag comes first in mind.looks nice also but understated alittle

Rolex Submariner - if done properly, it is a stunner (Eurotimez Euromariner is considered a "super rep" by me)

Rolex Sea Dweller (SSD V2) is a tank with classic looks (though it has it's flaws, it is a forum favorite)

Breitling Steelfish Superocean (considered a "super rep")

Omega PO (considered a "super rep")

All four are relatively uncomplicated designs, very true to their gen counterparts, water resistant, and robust.

Here are some links for you to check out:
